Your body tells you more than you think
Communicating, we do it day in, day out. With ourselves, but often also with those around us. We do it an awful lot, but are we actually aware of how we communicate? Communication does not, in fact, largely take place through the words we use. The percentages below indicate in broad terms how our communication flows are distributed; 55% of our communication is body language 38% is our tone (intonation, pace, sound) Only 7% are the words we use Yet, in practice, we often see that we focus on the mere 7%: the words we pronounce. Feedback is often given on the content of the words spoken, but you rarely hear people giving/receiving feedback on their body language, and that is exactly where NLP comes in. NLP helps you to: Recognize the signals behind someone's words- Build rapport for trust and connection- Appear more confident – even without saying anything- Break patterns in your own communicationSo, communication goes beyond saying a few words; you also communicate with your conversation partner on a deeper level. What you radiate says a great deal about your state of mind, what your intentions are, and what you want to achieve. How wonderful would it be if the way our body language is expressed was integrated into giving feedback? That would be incredibly powerful, allowing the person themselves to truly be heard.
